The Peugeot 308 boasts several technological innovations. Dedicated to pleasure, comfort and assistance for the driver, these innovations enhance every moment on board.
On board the new Peugeot 308, the driver has a large 9.7" touchscreen tablet (available on the Active version and above) turned towards the driver and is perfectly integrated into the central dashboard. It provides fingertip access to all features. Touchscreen controls and many shortcuts make it intuitive to use and customisable.
The touchscreen on the new Peugeot 308 (available on the Active version and above) is designed to be compatible with a range of devices, with jack and USB connections available. Select using album covers, design your own playlist, and store your favourite music: the touchscreen has 6.9 GB of storage with the Navigation option. Choosing which song to listen to next will be the most difficult task … No need to return home to view your photos: display them when you park by connecting a USB stick to your touchscreen. Depending on the country, it offers DAB as standard or optional: digital radio provides better sound quality, reception and new features (rewind, pause, etc.).
By replacing the electro-hydraulic variable assist steering with electric power steering, the new Peugeot 308 further reduces CO2 emissions. Another advantage is that the electric power steering enables excellent handling for inner-city manoeuvres, aided by a much reduced turning circle on the New 308.
The style, dimensions, and lowered centre of gravity of the new Peugeot 308 have a significant aerodynamic impact. The car achieves Cx (air penetration index) and SCx values which are unheard of in the segment: they start at, respectively, 0.28 and 0.63. These results make an active contribution to reducing fuel consumption and therefore CO2 emissions.
The reverse camera, available as an optional extra, shows and indicates, with a sound alert, what you cannot see behind the vehicle: located on the tailgate, it is automatically triggered when you shift into reverse gear and transmits the image onto the touchscreen. The coloured lines indicate how far away objects are.
As a replacement for the traditional key, electronic recognition allows you to unlock the doors, start and stop the engine just by pressing a Start/Stop button. Simply moving this against one of the front handles locks the vehicle doors (after first ensuring that there are no passengers in the vehicle). Available as an option on the Allure version.
Thanks to four sensors located on the front and rear bumpers, this technology informs the driver, on all journeys, of the presence of another vehicle or motorbike in the blind spot. An LED lights up on the nearest wing mirror to inform the driver. Available as an option on the Allure version.
Thanks to its compactness, the new Peugeot 308 is lighter. With dimension savings of 47 mm (height), 23 mm (length) and 10 mm (width), it is lighter than its predecessor. Laser welding also helps to reduce the weight. Finally, 70 kg is saved thanks to the use of the Group's all-new EMP2 platform.
The equipment is designed to help reduce overall vehicle weight. The new running gear is much lighter thanks to a hollow anti-roll bar and the use of aluminium components. Even the braking system, designed in keeping with the reduced weight of the vehicle, helps to reduce the weight of the car.
The Allure version of the new Peugeot 308 are fitted as standard with an electric parking brake. This is activated automatically when the engine stops and is deactivated when the engine is restarted. As standard from level 2, the Hill Assist function facilitates reignition and hill manoeuvres. This unique technology immobilises the vehicle for a short period (about 2 seconds), allowing the driver to move from the brake to the accelerator.
The weight of the new Peugeot 308 has been considerably reduced, to achieve first-rate fuel consumption performances and CO2 emissions, while also ensuring excellent road handling. 140kg has been saved compared to the previous version of the 308 by eliminating excess weight in all areas: vehicle compactness, aerodynamics, lighter materials and equipment.
